aloha! C:

today was maaad busy. K, actually i only went out once? But had to wakeup at 6am!:O though i ended up snoozing till bout 7.15. Hahaha. But i slept late last night okay. And i need my 9hours of sleep! Hahaha. #elainethelazypigyip

so anyway,
went for 'alongsiders seminar' at navigators with church people, i'd really like to blog all about it, but it'd really be looong. But either how, did enjoy myself there! And learnt tons of stuff too. (Y) but anyway, basically it's kinda teaching you how to be an 'alongsider', it's not the same as disciple making, whereby it's 'mentor and mentee', but more of two peers having a close relationship with each other in God. It's like supporting each other, without someone being 'higher/smarter than the other. (: reading the bible tgthr, counselling each other, helping each other. Basically it's what friends do with each other? Except it's the christian way. I think that's the simplest way to explain it. Haha.

So, two lessons i liked.

There was this friendship model,
1. CLICHE CONVERSATIONS
when people go 'how are you', 'how's it going', but never really hear your response,
2. REPORTING INFORMATION
adding on to the previous, plus giving out information/ facts such as where you're studying/staying.
3. IDEAS, JUDGEMENTS, OPINIONS
when communication really starts. Being willing to risk telling ideas, judgements and decisions, ' i dont think..'' i find it weird..'
4. FEELING AND EMOTIONS
added on to number three, feelings are added. 'i dont think it's good, i feel annoyed..' this is heart communication, when you share feelings and let the other person know who you really are.
5. PEAK COMMUNICATION.
deep, authentic relationships based on transparency and vulnerability, honestly admitting failures and need for help.

So yep, that's the 5levels.
So quite obviously, the best would be to move up to level 5 with all your friends, but it's quite hard isnt it? To be so transparent with someone, and of course, the fear of being 'judged' runs high.

#002 the way of an alongsider.
To be an alongsider, i think, your relationship with God has to be strong. And how else to do it besides reading the bible and praying. So there was this model they had, called 5 x 5 x 5
5minutes a day (reading the bible), 5days a week, 5different ways.
The 5ways being,
-underline or highlight key phrases,
-write your own translation/meaning of the passage
-ask questions
-capture the big idea (key point)
-personalize the meaning (how does it help you? What's one specific way you could respond within the nxt 24hours?)

yep. Seems quite a good model for me? Imma try it out! Hopefully it lasts, im forever lazy in reading the bible. :S

idk who's reading this, but for christians, if you didnt get to go for the seminar, im just like, letting you all know! I cann lend ya all the 'notes-book' thingamy if you want! C: im really needing to make myself walk a better chirstian walk! Forever being sucha badchristian example, complaining and whining, tsk. *ashamed.

K, shall go to sleep now, mad tired lah!
*and tomorrow is................ :D
